Yoga mat market report: what 20 top Amazon listings reveal (October 2026)
We looked at the top 20 distinct organic results for "yoga mat" on Amazon US: their "Customers say" complaint topics, 90 days of best-seller rank and price history, and who's advertising on the search. Data collected on 3 October 2026.
Complaints across the category
| Topic | Mats where it's a topic | Negative or mixed | Negative mentions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grip / slipping | 13 | 11 | 3,460 of 7,320 (47%) |
| Durability | 10 | 7 | 4,727 of 8,804 (54%) |
| Smell / odor | 5 | 5 | 1,464 of 1,959 (75%) |
| Carrying strap | 3 | 2 | 487 of 792 (61%) |
Thickness, comfort and value are praised almost everywhere. Thick mats lose on grip and durability, not on thickness itself.

- Climbers cluster at $20–25; the category median is about $25.
- All 20 have A+ content, so it's table stakes. Video isn't: 4 of the 6 biggest climbers have no video.
- Stockouts cost rank: a mat out of stock on 27% of days fell from #301 to #1,635.
- Newcomers can break in: a KEEP mat with about 300 ratings climbed 78%, already at "2K+ bought last month".
Rank is Amazon's top-level Sports & Outdoors best-seller rank.
Who's advertising
Of 8 sponsored placements seen on the search, 6 were one brand (Gruper), which also ranks #5 organically. KEEP and MICRODRY ran the others. Amazon doesn't show every ad to automated requests, so treat this as a sample.
If you're launching a mat
Make three things visible in your title and first images: no smell out of the box, grip that holds when sweaty, and durability you can prove (a warranty or tear tests). Price around $20–25, and don't run out of stock.
One keyword, one marketplace, one day. "Customers say" is Amazon's AI summary, so treat its counts as directional. Review counts can fall when Amazon merges variation listings, so review growth isn't used in these conclusions.
